Home Learning Overviews

Week beginning 6th July 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you had a good weekend.

Please find the work for this week under the relevant curriculum icons. As previous weeks, please look at the Maths and English Overviews for the week first and they are located above.

In English this week we are looking at tenses and there is another challenge in Maths which will take the whole week to solve, we know how many of you are looking forward to this! In Science there is a fun quiz to test yourselves on all of the knowledge you have learnt about light this term, also there is an opportunity to explore your shadow, so let’s hope for some sunny days. Mrs Marchant has some Russian influenced Art tasks for you and Mr Gilbert is teaching us some more music skills, I wonder what fun game he will have prepared for you to do this week? In RE we are looking at the parable of the Unforgiving Servant and there is a dice for you to make and play a game with.

We hope that you are not printing out masses of paper in order to engage in our home learning. We want to emphasise that you do not need to print off the pages, but can instead copy from your screen into your red book or onto a piece of paper. For some activities you can orally engage and do not need to write down anything. Of course if you wish to print that is totally up to you and we understand that some activities may be easier if a document is printed out, however we understand that not all of you have access to a printer and we will think no less of the work you send back if it has not been done on a printed out document.

As previous weeks, please can you send us 5 pieces of work back: 2 English and Maths pieces and 1 other piece of your choice.

We continue to remind you that the daily Worships are on the website under ‘Christian vision and ethos/online worships’. Most of the year 3 team are leading them as Mr Russell, Mr Gilbert and Mrs Burton, as well as All Saints and Mrs Strand of course, are creating them for you.

Enjoy your week!

Best wishes,

The Year 3 Team

Week beginning 29th June 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you had a relaxing weekend.

Please find the work for this week under the relevant curriculum icons. Please look at the Maths & English Overviews in this folder first.

This week there are no recorded lessons for English as we ran out of time to produce them for you due to extra teaching commitments this week. We hope that you still find the English sessions very accessible through the session sheets and resources. We are starting a new text in English, it is a lovely story and we hope that you find it stimulating. Take a look at Mrs Marchant's Book Review & Activity in the Reading Folder. There is a super challenge in Maths for you to complete over the week where each day you will be building up to a final answer at the end of the week. We are going to be making puppet theatres in science so you will need a cardboard box, white tissue paper, some tape, scissors and felt tip pens or paints, as well as your puppets you made last week. Look out for the Art tasks, a new parable in RE, some more on Chile, learning about notation in music and having a ‘can do’ attitude in French!

This week is a special ‘Fermor Virtual Sports Week’, you should have received an email regarding this. It would be great to have as many photos as possible of all of you doing some sort of fitness activity everyday dressed in your House colour top. At the end of the week Mrs Willison will count up the number of entries from each House and the House with the most number of photo entries will be the winner! Please send the photos to the Year 3 email address.

As well as lessons from the Teachers, our T.A’s have been producing work for you to do again. Mrs Marchant has planned some more creative art tasks, a shadow activity as well as writing a book review with a corresponding task. This can be found in the Reading Folder on the website. In Geography we will be introducing you to the country of Chile and in RE we continue to look at another parable, this one is about some yeast and dough! In Science you will have the opportunity to make shadow puppets for which you will need some sticks, tape, card and a torch or movable lamp.

Week beginning 20.4.20

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope you have had a relaxing break from home learning, and that you are now ready to get learning again.  Thank you to all of you who have sent lovely examples of work to us so far.

Timetable

Mrs Strand attached a suggested timetable to her letter to you and you may find it helpful for organising your child’s home learning. This is how we work at school.

Weekly Work

You will be sent work for the week. It will be accessed via the school website on our class page under Extraordinary Learning Curriculum Stars. There are lots of documents, please do not panic, you won’t need to print everything.

There will be:

Maths – a weekly home learning overview document and a pdf instruction sheet for each session, there will be question and answer sheets for each session.

Along with any additional resources that may be needed.

English - there will be a weekly home learning overview document, and an instruction sheet for each session and any additional resources needed.

All other subjects - there will be one session each week.

We have tried our hardest to make these sessions fun, and easy for the children to do on their own.  We want to encourage the children to work independently where possible.

Recorded Lessons
As well as the Maths lessons, which all have recorded content, English session 4 will also be a recorded lesson this week and will be uploaded onto the website on Wednesday under the English Curriculum icon.

Work to be returned to us

Over the week, if you can, please send us 2 pieces of work for maths, for English your story using speech marks, your marked spelling test and one piece from another subject of your choice.

We have loved hearing from the children.

Best wishes

Mrs Burton, Mrs Kendon and Miss Sills
