New Starters September 2021

On this page you will find useful links, information and messages from the teachers. We are looking forward to meeting the children starting in September and want to make the transition as supportive as possible.

Dear Parents and carers,

We are really excited to be welcoming you and your family into our Fermor Family and cannot wait until your little ones start school with us, we are going to have such a good time.  We have a number of exciting events coming up so please take time to read this email in full and find out all about starting school at SHF.

To help prepare you and your children, this term we would like to invite all parents to sign up for a 15 minute slot on either Monday 12th July, or Tuesday 13th July. This will be an opportunity for you and your child to visit their new classroom, buy uniform, meet their new teacher and have a good look around. Please let the office know if you have a preference for either the Monday or Tuesday and we will do our best to accommodate you. office@fermorschool.org.uk

In September, we would love all children to bring with them an ‘All About Me’ box, any decorated shoe box that they can fit 5 things they would like to share with their new friends. These boxes will stay in school, so nothing too precious.

In this box we would love a photo of them as a baby, and your family. We will create some ‘chatty walls’ with your children’s photos, we find that children love to talk about themselves and their families, and these conversations are a wonderful way for us to get to know everyone. The photos will be added to throughout the year, so we are unable to return these.

Before your child joins us in September, we invite you to send in pictures of them doing the things they love, or just having fun. We will add these to our photo gallery – you will be able to see your pictures and those of the other children in the ‘meet your new friends section’ of our website. Photos to be emailed to office@fermorschool.org.uk

Home school visits, these will be taking place during the first days of term, they really are valuable as I mentioned in the last email, so we are looking forward to these, as long as restrictions are lifted.  We are going to send you home with balloons after your first visit in July, that way you can put your balloon out and we will have a clear sign we are at the right home. We are looking forward to spotting the balloons all over the Crowborough area.

Thursday 2nd September, we would like to invite all children, parents and carers to come for a story, this will be at 9.15 and we invite you to come and have another look at the classrooms, and if restrictions are lifted,  if we can offer you a cup of tea, we will.

The Parents Group ‘Friends of Fermor School’ (FoFS) are also hoping to offer their ‘Tea and Tissues’ event when the children start full days at school as soon as we know any more we will let you know.

Please note that all group events are liable to change if guidance on such events changes, so we will keep you regularly up to date.
