As you may know our school is steeped in history; Sir Henry Fermor left in his will, an instruction for 4 people to set up a Trust, ‘The Fermor Dole’, to ensure that the children of Crowborough would be educated for generations to come. Ten years after his death this became a reality and the original school building was set up in what is now the vicarage.
Custodians of the school have cared for and educated thousands of children over the past 274 years. We have been incredibly fortunate to have discovered some of this history in the school’s lofts and attics - a wealth of historical artefacts and literature spanning three centuries of history of the school.
An amazing team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to piece together the incredible journey from the school’s beginnings, and create a display for our school history wall.
We would like to cordially invite you to the grand opening of this event by the Mayor of Crowborough Town. Thursday 10th January - Doors to the school will open at 5:45pm and the ribbon will be cut at 6pm, allowing you to browse the wall and soak up the atmosphere of bygone years. Please come and join us and raise a glass to see in the new year and a new journey at Sir Henry Fermor CE Primary School.
