For the next few weeks we will be sending out some phonic work on sounds that we have assessed that the children are still struggling with. We are working on phase 4 phonics in class but feel that this additional "catch up" will benefit the children. This week we are looking at the "ai" and "ure" sounds.
If you wish to look at some phonics over half term we have put a link below for Mr Thorpe's phonics which you can find on Youtube. The children love Mr Thorpe and Geraldine the Giraffe. We have also attached the Phase 2 and Phase 3 phonics which we have been revising to guide you on any sounds the children should look at.
We are now moving onto Phase 4 and looking forward to Phase 5 which are new phases for the children, you do not need to look at these phase yet.
We are continuing to recap all phase 3 sounds ahead to phase 4 in a few weeks time. With this in mind could they please complete the following sheet using the pictures to help you. If you do not wish to print off the sheet please ask your child to copy the words and write each word three times.
The children are continuing to practise their Phase 3 phonic sounds this week looking ahead to phase 4 in a few weeks time. Looking ahead they will also be practising tricky words which do not follow the phonic rules. With this in mind could they please complete the following sheet. If you do not wish to print off the sheet please ask your child to copy the words and write each word three times.
We are continuing to recap our Phase 3 phonic sounds. Ask the children if they can fill in the missing Farm sounds.
Please find some simple picture and phrase matching activities in the attached document. These are using the Phase 2 phonic sounds that they would have been familiar with last year. This will reinforce the sounds they should already feel confident with. In class we are currently recapping the Phase 3 sounds and will be introducing Phase 3 homework in due course. Please ask if you have any queries regarding these activities.
If your child wants a further challenge - can they write their own sentences using some of these words?
Please watch the following video on Youtube the children really enjoy saying the sounds and doing the actions which reinforces their learning.
