Home Learning

Welcome to our Home Learning page!

We encourage parents to be active in assisting and inspiring their children with their homework without doing it for them, obviously! Responsibility, a love for learning and time-keeping are the important skills that we are trying to teach the children in preparation for secondary school.

Maths and English:

Each week, home learning is set on a Friday and should be returned by the following Thursday (unless otherwise specified). The children will mark their own work in class during the relevant lesson on the Thursday.  Some homework will be consolidating work they have already done and other work will be pre-teaching a new concept.

Spelling:

Will be set on Fridays and checked on the following Friday.

Reading:

We encourage all children to read as much as possible during the week, both independently and being listened to. Please record pages read in the Reading Record.

Some children enjoy using a spelling organiser to practise their spellings, which can be found just below to be printed out if you wish.

We have also included links to the Year 5/6 statutory spelling list and some useful websites for grammar, times tables and maths games which you may find useful if looking for some additional challenges for your child.
