The children will be assessed on Friday 19th September

 

The assessment will be on an assortment of spelling rules. This range includes Year 5 & 6 spelling list - a copy of which you will find below. We will be practising many of the spelling rules in class but you may wish to look at some of them at home. Normal spelling tests will resume next week.

 

The following variety of spelling patterns will be assessed on Friday:

 

Suffixes: e.g. -ation, -ly -ous.

 

Word endings that sound the same but are not spelt the same e.g.

 

-cious/-tious  -ant/-ance/-ancy/-ent/-ence/-ency -ably/-ibly.

 

Silent letters (i.e. letters whose presence cannot be predicted from the pronunciation of the word).
