This week's mathematics is Counting in Powers of 10 (page 9) and Multiples (page 18). [Week 7]

 

CGP books have arrived. The focus for Mathematics will be on the previous year groups object test [page 2-5] (some of the first few pages in the front of the CGP maths books). This will highlight any key areas that need to be addressed that we have not yet covered or missed. (For example: since Fractions or Area have been taught and will not be reviewed until later in the year, it provides us with insight of how best to support).

 

This week's Mathematics is to focus on word problems. This uses skills also learnt in guided reading where we will gather the key information from a text. This key information is the basis for working out these calculations. (Week 5)

In Mathematics, we are recapping our knowledge of using mental strategies, which include known facts. This is to understand how concrete tangible counting links to pictorial representations and leads into abstract forms of number. Known facts should start off with the fundamentals and be the basis of later equations. (Week 4)
