Year 5

Year 5 Home Learning – Day 1

Good morning

We’re really sorry to hear that you can’t be with us in school for a while. If you don’t have any symptoms and are feeling well, you should still continue with your learning at home, so you don’t miss out on too much.

Your learning for day 2 onwards will be sent to your parents via email, so please ask them to look out for that.

To help you stay focused, we would like you to plan your day a bit like a school day. But of course, you also need to think about what everyone else in your house is doing, so please complete your work in the order that works best for you and your family.

When you are doing your learning at home, remember to take breaks throughout the day and stay hydrated. It’s also important to continue getting regular exercise. You can access some KS2 PE activities at:

https://henryfermor.primarysite.media/media/ks2-pe-isolation-pe-2

Have a great day.

Times tables practice (15 minutes)

Please log in to your Times Tables Rock Stars account:

You should have your login details in your contact book, but if you need these again please let your teacher know.

Maths (an hour)

It’s always good to spend some time practising your mental maths and the 4 core operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Begin today’s maths by playing a round of Hit the Button – you might like to start your maths time with this every day to see if you can beat your previous score!

Then please spend some time working through this revision book. If you don’t have a printer please don’t worry, you can write your answers on a piece of paper instead.

Worship (15 minutes)

You can choose one of our previous daily worship videos to access online at Online worship

Daily Mile (10 minutes)

If you’re able to go outside in the garden and do some jogging or star jumps that would be great. Otherwise, please access one of the PE videos on the website for some great activities.

Break (15 minutes)

After all that exercise, don’t forget to have a drink and a healthy snack.

Personal Reading Time (30 minutes)

Please make sure you spend some time reading your book today as well. We’ll look forward to hearing all about the reading you’ve done when you can join us back at school.

English (an hour)

In English, you will listen to this video by Ms Madden. She will do some quick revision on spellings on then focus on grammar.

Lunch (60 minutes)

Make sure you have a good break now.

Spellings (15 minutes)

On the class page, look up this week's spellings. Please spend some time learning them. If there are any words you don’t understand, use a dictionary to look them up. Can you write sentences using your spelling words? It’s a great way to check that you know what the words mean!

Science (60 minutes)

This afternoon you will be recapping on some learning you did in Science on solar and lunar eclipses. Please listen to the lesson by Miss Hummel. At the end, please draw a diagram that demonstrates what happens during a solar and lunar eclipse. Can you write a description of each?

Well done, you have made it to the end of Day 1!

Don’t forget to ask your parent or carer to check their email for day 2's learning.

Thank you for working hard today
