SPLAT halfway between multiples of ten?
In maths, we have been looking at addition and subtraction. Discovery Espresso has many games/activities for you to practise, including this one. Feel free to explore; login details are in contact book.
TopMarks is another fun website with plenty of addition/subtraction/number games to play and explore. https://www.topmarks.co.uk/subtraction/subtraction-to-10.
You could also have a look at our Flash Back 4 building on what they have been learning:
This term we are completing our addition and subtraction unit, moving on to multiplication and division. Please continue to play timestables rockstars to learn the 2s, 5s, 10s and you may wish to use the following sites:
We are also learning about measures so the following activities are essential to use to support their learning in class.
This term we are continuing to learn about addition and subtraction before moving on to multiplication. Alongside this, we will be recapping on the topic of 2d and 3d shape as well as looking at pattern and the vocabulary of measurement including big, bigger, biggest, long, longer, longest, wide, wider, widest, thin, thinner, thinnest, short, shorter and shortest.
You can support them in their learning by using the following websites to rehearse skills and increase their confidence with the language.
This term we are continuing with addition and subtraction and then moving on to multiplication for our number lessons. To prepare the children for multiplication they need to be confident counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. We have been practicing counting in class using these websites:
Welcome to the Maths homework page. In Year 1 we will set a termly Maths challenge which can be completed at any point during the term. This term there will be a variety of games and suggested websites for your child to use to support their calculation skills as they are learning to add and subtract in a variety of ways up to 20 and beyond. It is also essential to be confident in quick recall of number bonds to 10.
For recall of number bonds please try the following:
For adding and subtracting to 20 try these:
Thank you for the many super posters about numbers to 10 that they children shared in Term 2.

To consolidate our learning for the remainder of this term we are looking at measurements. In class we are focusing on weight and mass so this homework is recalling measuring length and height which we covered before Christmas.
Since returning to school we have been recapping learning. This week we have been looking at number bonds to 10 and number bonds to 20. This worksheet should be familiar to the children.
This week we have been looking at measuring things using every day object. On the sheet attached there are a number of broomsticks. Can the children cut them out and place them in order longest to shortest. As an optional extra can they measure how long each broomstick is using an everyday object. e.g. 3 paperclips long or 5 pasta shells long etc...
Please return this work or a photo of the work by next Wednesday 25th November.
Thanks you
We are looking at subtraction this week, and using the terms take away, subtraction, remove etc. We started subtracting up to the number 10 and have moved on to subtracting up to the number 20. Please use the attached colouring in document to enhance this learning.
It would be helpful if the children could practise writing their numbers to 20, especially the correct directions for 3, 5, 7 and 9. Please find a template attached which may help you.
This week we are expanding our knowledge of number bonds to 10. For this weeks homework please could you complete the attached sheet.
This week we have continued to practise the value of numbers 11-20. For their homework this week could they please complete the attached sheet. Alternatively the children could find objects from home that match a number 11-20 e.g. write the number 14 on some paper and then they look for 14 toy cars etc. You may take a picture if you wish but do not worry if you are unable to.
Well done for those of you who have completed the numbers worksheets last week. This week we have been looking at 3D shapes. Can the children find any of the following shapes in their home?
What are these things?
