What does my child learn at SHF?

Remote Education Provision

At Sir Henry Fermor our broad and rich curriculum develops from when your child first starts school in Reception (in either Hedgehogs or Owls class).  The scaffolding is put into place from the very beginning, as they learn through discovery and play. Foundations are built upon to develop the children in all areas of the curriculum and links are continually made throughout your child's journey with us.

Our ethos at Sir Henry Fermor is that no child is left behind and every child is inspired to always give their best and believe in all they do.  Happy children, with a growth mind-set, achieve.

For more information on what your child will learn in each year of their journey at Sir Henry Fermor,  please see our Curriculum Overviews by Year Group

To understand how our curriculum subjects develop from EYFS through to Year 6, please see our Curriculum Overviews by Subject.

We would like to thank our parents and carers for doing an incredible job, delivering lessons, provided by our teachers, during the school closure and partial closure.  Our challenge now is to address the wide ranging needs of our children, following such an extended absence for some, from school.  We are well equipped and prepared to meet these challenges now, and as they may arise going forward.

Our children are happy, safe, settled and learning again in school which is wonderful.  We will continue to plan and deliver a curriculum which focuses on what is necessary to ensure:

  • Pupils are safe and feel safe
  • Mental health and wellbeing of pupils is promoted and supported
  • Pupils are engaged and motivated to learn
  • Any significant learning gaps are identified with learning sequences and opportunities provided to address them
  • Curriculum content is prioritised and re-visited where necessary

We would be pleased to discuss with you, any questions you may have regarding our curriculum at Sir Henry Fermor.
