Heatree 2025

Thursday 10th July

A late update tonight after another busy day.  The children continue to amaze us with the amount that they have achieved this week - showing such determination, perseverance and really growing in their ability to encourage and support one another.

Today the different activity groups completed the activities they hadn't already done so there was a real variety of activity going on from archery and low adventure to high ropes and raft building.

The day culminated in roasting marshmallows over a campfire before returning to their rooms to pack for the journey home. We expect it to be a quiet journey home as the children have had such a busy week!

Wednesday 9th July

Another great day today and we were so proud of what the children achieved.  We had a full day out on the moors, so the children had to be organised and carry their own lunch, drinks and spare clothing.

Half of the groups started by visiting "Hounds Tor" where they were challenged to scramble over, and through, various interesting rock formations.

After a picnic lunch at the rocks they then set off on a walk across the moors and back to the centre.  Other groups started with the walk then finished with the scramble.

It was a really full day of adventure and the fun didn't stop there - this evening our meeting room was filled with laughter as the children put on their "Fermor's got talent" show - it was quite an experience.

Leaders and children can't quite believe how quickly the week is going - only 1 full day of activities left, but they're determined to make the most of the opportunity.

Tuesday 8th July

What a fantastic day! The sun shone all day, spirits were high and the children enjoyed a great first day of activities.  During the week we are split into 4 different activity groups so that across the week everyone will have chance to take part in all of the different activities we do.

Today it was the turn of the orange and red groups doing Raft Building and High Ropes.  Meanwhile, the blue and green groups took part in Archery and Low Adventure sessions.

By the end of the day there were many tired, but smiling faces amongst the group and A LOT of dirty, wet clothes! We can safely say that lots of showers have been taken already.

Here are a few pictures from today.

Monday 7th July

We've arrived safe and sound at Heatree Activity Centre! The journey was very smooth and the children were particularly impressed by the information shared by our coach driver when we passed Stonehenge.

It's been a busy afternoon settling in to our rooms, learning where everything is and having our first activity session - orienteering.

We will share more photos later, but here's a little taster for now.
