As usual, in addition to the specific tasks set each week (below) we would like to encourage the children to continue to read for pleasure and to discuss the age-appropriate texts they are reading.
After such a busy SATs week, you'll be pleased to know there is no English homework being set this week!
Please note we are not setting any homework for this week as we look ahead to the week of SATs and know that some children may like to do their own revision. We hope the children have a relaxing weekend so they are refreshed and ready for Monday.
As we enter the final week before SATs we would like the children to focus on the areas of English that they find trickiest and to look at these pages in their CGP books. They may like to look again at pages they have previously completed (to remind themselves of the learning), or to look at pages they've not yet tried.
Please remember of course that the boxes at the top of each section contain helpful information and the answers are in the back of the book. Your child's teacher is of course also happy to help with any queries.
We would like the children to focus on the following pages of their CGP books this week:
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - pages 32 to 35 (Standard and Non-Standard English)
We would like the children to focus on the following pages of their CGP books this week:
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - pages 27 to 29 (formal and informal)
Reading Comprehension - pages 14 and 15. This is a comprehension based around a fictional extract called "Journey to the city of 6 gates". If your child would like to receive any additional help with the vocabulary involved (a short pre-teach) this will be offered on Monday lunchtime.
