Information for September 2024
Drop Off Arrangements
Your child will start school on Tuesday 3rd of September and should enter the school premises using the red gate. This will be open from 8:45am and closed promptly at 8:55am. Once inside, your child should go round he corner through the KS1 and 2 playground where they will see their year group adults waiting for them. Once they have entered the building through the KS2 hall, they should go straight to their new classroom where they will find their individually labelled peg to hang their belongings and be greeted by another member of the year 5 team.
What to Wear and What to Bring
Children are expected to attend school in full summer school uniform, please see our uniform page for further details. In addition, children should bring in their PE kit in a named red school drawstring bag and a rucksack containing only the following items:
A named wipe-able lunch box (where needed);
A named water bottle;
A reading record book;
A reading book; and
A contact book.
Both the reading record and contact books will be given on their first day. Your child can also borrow any of our reading books in classrooms or the KS2 library.
Collection Arrangements
Your child will finish school at 3:15pm and will exit the building through the Year 5 and 6 entrance. Depending on the information you give us on the Pick Up Arrangement Form, the class teacher will either release your child to walk home on their own, meet you at a specified place or ensure they are released to the designated adult.
Please be aware that you must complete a new arrangements form for this academic year. Completed forms can be emailed back to the school office or handed to a member of the class team.
Please note: It is really important that we receive your completed form ASAP as we cannot release your child to walk home or go with a designated adult without your signed consent.
Home - School Communication
During the drop off and collection times, there will always be a member of the year group team on hand who will always do their best to support with any questions or concerns. However, the most effective way to communicate with the class teacher is using your child's contact book or by emailing the school office who will forward the message on.
If there is anything of a more confidential or sensitive nature, you can email the safeguarding team direct on DSL@fermorschool.org.uk
We hope the information on this page has been helpful. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Year 5 team. It is our goal to ensure that every child has an amazing year.
