Maths

Welcome to our Maths homework page!

Homework is set on a Friday to be completed and handed in on the following Friday morning. The most recent homework will always be displayed at the top of the list below.

In addition to the tasks below, children should also be regularly logging in to the timestables rockstars website to maintain their fluency with timestables. They can challenge other individuals to race them or work through challenges on their own knowing that the time they spend on the site will count towards the weekly year 6 tournament.  The site is accessed at https://ttrockstars.com/ and children have individual logins which can be provided by their teacher if they need a reminder.

Further opportunity to practise times tables and other mathematical operations can be found on the "daily 10" website where children can be challenged to complete quickfire questions to develop their mental maths fluency.  To find out more, please click here

Term 4, Week 3-4 (Set 14th March)

As we have mock SATS next week we have decided not to set any specific Maths tasks this week.

However, we have reminded the children that their homework books are theirs to learn from, so they may wish to practice areas that they find particularly challenging.  The answers are in the back of the book for them to check how they have got on after completing any work.

As always, we would also continue to encourage the children to be practicing their timestables via TTRS and/or timestables.co.uk to continue working on their fluency in this area.

Term 4, Week 2-3 (set 7th March)

We would like the children to complete pages 60-62 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on Area and Perimeter so supports our most recent learning topic.

In addition, we have noticed that some children are still not secure with the fluency of their times tables.  We would like to encourage all children to continue to play TTRS regularly (please ask your class teacher if you need a reminder of your login details).

Alternatively (or in addition), they can practice by going to timestables.co.uk and selecting the "multiplication tables check" tab where they will have chance to answer 25 questions in the format that they completed in the Year 4 tables check.  All children will be provided with their own login to this site next week so they can keep track of their scores.

Term 4, Week 1-2 (set 28th February)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 39-41 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on Fractions, Decimals and Percentages so supports the block of work we have just completed in class.

Term 3, Week 5-6 (set 7th February)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 57-59 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on Time and Money so is a recap of work from earlier years of their primary school journey.

Term 3, Week 4-5 (set 31st January)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice on TTRS (which we would especially encourage the children to do this week in preparation for the TTRS challenge on Friday 7th Feb) we would like the children to complete pages 32, 36 and 37 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on multiplying and dividing fractions.

Term 3, Week 3-4 (set 24th January)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 15-16 and 18 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on division (and some multiplication) so is supporting a core area of mathematics.

Term 3, Week 2-3 (set 17th January)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 13-14 and 17 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on multiplication (and some division) so is supporting a core area of mathematics.

Term 3, Week 1-2 (set 10th January)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 42, 43 and 53 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on ratio and number sequences so is supporting the work we have been doing in school over the last few weeks.

Term 2, Week 6-7 (set 13th December)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 55-56 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on units and conversions so is supporting the work we have been doing in school over the last few weeks.

Term 2, Week 5-6 (set 6th December)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete the following "End of block" quizzes on fractions.  All children have been given a printed copy of these sheets but extra copies can be downloaded here if needed.

We have now completed our lengthy block of study of fractions and these 2 short quizzes are a way for the children to consolidate their learning and for us to identify any areas they are still finding tricky.

Term 2, Week 4-5 (set 29th November)

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 34-35 of their homework books this week please. This work focuses on adding and subtracting fractions so is supporting the work we have been doing in school over the last few weeks.

Term 2, Week 3-4 (set 22nd November)

  • Brackets
  • Orders (square numbers, cube numbers etc)
  • Division and Multiplication (of equal importance from left to right)
  • Addition and Subtraction (of equal importance from left to right)

Term 1, Week 7-8 (set 18th October)

Yes, you've read it correctly on the newsletter - the long awaited homework books are here and all children have been given their own copies, so no printing at home is required!

In addition to maintaining times tables practice (on TTRS) and mental arithmetic practice (on Daily 10) we would like the children to complete pages 8 and 9 this week please.

Term 1, week 4-5 (set 27th September)

Our maths homework is a little different this week as we would like to offer some more challenge.  There are 2 documents below, the first (rules of divisibility) is designed to help secure the learning that we have done this week, whilst the second (multiplication) is designed to prepare the children for the unit of maths we will be moving on to next week.

The children are aware that there are 3 levels of challenge on each sheet (each getting progressively more challenging) - we do not expect the children to complete every level of challenge of each sheet, rather to work on the level that suits them best (or will present them with a bit of challenge).

Children are of course welcome to complete the sheets in full but the expectation is that they do at least one challenge level of one of the sheets.
