Thank you so much for the amazing and imaginative Christmas decorations that have been completed for last week's home learning. They have been proudly added to the classroom decorations and Christmas trees but will be sent home at the end of term.
We are also all very excited about our Key Stage 2 Carol concert which is going to be held on Tuesday 16th December at All Saints Church.
We will be singing "We three kings" and so we would like the children to be as familiar as possible with the words. Please can they practise their carol as much as possible at home in addition to the opportunities to rehearse at school. Please click on the document below. We will send words home next week too.
Its that time of year again - Christmas is coming!
We would like the children to create a new Christmas decoration for their year 4 classrooms. It does not need to be very big but it could go on the windows, be hung from the displays or decorate the class Christmas tree. When they are sent in by Friday, then they will brighten up the classrooms for the Christmas fair which is on Saturday 29th. Below are some ideas for inspiration:
The children have written persuasive letters to Mrs Edwards in their English requesting permission to have a Roman Day on the final week of term 2. For this they will need to be in some sort of costume or bring a prop for the day. We would like you to consider this now, in case you wanted to order a costume but so that there is enough time for the children to create a prop. The costume could just be a piece of sheeting safety pinned to form a toga or just a prop such as a laurel wreath crown, a sword or shield. We will communicate the actual date as soon as possible so that you are aware of when this needs to be brought into school. Below are some images to give you ideas.
Happy creating!
Thank you so much for the hard work to create their last project - making habitats for endangered species. They are so creative and they thoroughly enjoyed proudly sharing these in class last week. Over the next few weeks they will be writing persuasive letters to their families, so we are requesting please, for each child to bring in a 2nd class stamp before November 26th to enable them to post their letters.
We would like the children to create a poster to celebrate Friendship Week this week ahead, which is a national initiative with the theme for 2025 of 'The Power for Good'. We will be discussing what makes a good friend and how we can support each other encouraging kindness in class and worships this week. The Newsround clip below will give them some ideas along with the pictures.
The children have enjoyed their science learning so much this term and produced some amazing posters on deforestation and negative effects on environments. However, they now have asked if they can do some further learning on habitats. In science this week, they have researched endangered species and we would like them to create a mini habitat/biome that would be the perfect environment for that endangered species. Today they had to discover what the living thing needed and the threats to its environment, so this will give them some starting ideas. They can choose any endangered species they would like but these could include:
Here are some ideas of the type of model that they might make:
Last week's science lesson was about the effects of deforestation on the natural world. The children learnt about the urban development needs to be considered carefully to minimise the negative effect on the environment, specifically the habitat of living things. We discussed how new housing developments need to incorporate some wild areas for the wildlife to remain etc. The task that we would like the children to complete was to create a poster that shows how these issues need to be considered. They should have a plain piece of paper where they can draw their poster and we have received some thoughtful ones back to share with the classes. Here are some examples:
Thank you for all your hard work creating posters for our new year group values - they are amazing. We enjoyed sharing them together last week. You are a very talented group and we will display many of them, as well as use them in our Church service in Term 3!
On Thursday 2nd October it is National Poetry Day and we will be spending time, sharing, discussing and creating lots of different poems across the school. We would like them to find a favourite poem and if they are brave enough, be ready to recite it or read it to the class and maybe even another year group or perhaps perform it in our Poetry Worship on the day. If they do not want to read it aloud in front of an audience, then they may want to record it at home and email it to the office for their teacher's attention. We look forward to hearing all the fantastic favourites!

Your first task this term is to create a poster or acrostic poem to display our new year group values of TRUST and COMPASSION. You can choose one of these or combine them together on your piece. Here are some images to give you ideas. Happy creating!
