We are setting no homework over the half term break so that everyone can have a well deserved rest! Please do encourage your children to keep reading for pleasure though!!
We would like the children to focus on the following pages of their CGP books this week:
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - pages 54-55 (its, it's and use of apostrophes)
This week we have also provided the children with a printed comprehension activity to try. This provides a varied range of short activities for the children to have a go at when they have read the associated text.
We would like the children to focus on the following pages of their CGP books this week:
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - pages 46-47 (commas)
We have not set a comprehension task this week, but would really encourage the children to spend some time reading for pleasure and to perhaps choose a different type of book to their usual choice.
We would like the children to focus on the following pages of their CGP books this week:
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - pages 41,42,43 (commas)
Comprehension - pages 18-19. This is a comprehension based around an excerpt of the story "Lord of the Rings". It has been chosen as the book is about a quest to find something (so relates to our current English topic). The children have received some pre-teaching around the extract so tricky words have been covered.
We would like the children to focus on the following pages of their CGP books this week:
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - pages 52 and 53 (apostrophes)
Comprehension - We have not set a comprehension this week. Instead we would like the children to spend some time reading for pleasure and thinking about their ideas for the Big Write we are doing on Friday afternoon.
We would like the children to focus on the following pages of their CGP books this week:
Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling - pages 50 and 51 (dashes and hyphens)
Comprehension - We have not set a comprehension this week. Instead we would like the children to carry out their own research about the Scientist Carl Linnaeus. It would be wonderful if the children could create their own factfiles to show who he was and what he did that was important in the world of Science.
Remember - the CGP books do have answers in the back but we will go over the work with the children on Fridays to ensure that any questions can be addressed.
Please also continue to read for pleasure and to remember to discuss what you are reading if possible.
